Black Panther: Wakanda Forever Movie Production Delayed Again Amidst Omicron Covid 19 Variant Outbreak On Set

When will the cinematic world of Wakanda grace screens again? Another day, another delay on the set of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever as production on the highly anticipated Black Panther movie sequel has been delayed yet again due to the pandemic.

It’s been four years since Marvel released the melanin movie magic that is Black Panther, nearly three years since we received word that a sequel had been confirmed, and almost a year and a half since the passing of the film’s esteemed lead, Chadwick Boseman.

With an original release date of July 8th, 2022, the production has been subjected to several disruptions causing another delay in filming. Following a great debate on whether or not to recast Boseman’s blockbusting role of T’Challa, the film’s studios established that Letitia Wright’s character would assume the lead instead.

However, filming was halted last fall when Letitia Wright reportedly suffered a concussion and fractured shoulder among other stunt related injuries.

Rumors stemming from reports about Letitia Wright’s stance on vaccination also suggested potential delays in production, but the chatter was quickly quieted once shooting began.

Last October, news outlets announced that the cast also suffered the loss of cast-mate Dorothy Steel who made headlines for debuting as an actress with her role in the film at the age of 88.

But most recently, the sequel finds itself among several other major Marvel productions stalled as a result of the Omicron Covid-19 variant outbreak on set in Atlanta as multiple members of staff and crew, including Lupita Nyong’o, have reportedly tested positive for the virus.

However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is pressing forward as filming is expected to resume in just one week with reportedly only four weeks of filming left. Black Panther: Wakanda Forever is expected to be released in theaters and via streaming on Disney Plus with a new release date, November 11th, 2022
