Usher reveals who he would’ve dated in the past.
R&B legend Usher, 43, opened up about his friendship with the late Aaliyah and confessed that he regrets not dating her. When asked which celebrity he would’ve dated in the past if he had the opportunity, he answered:
“Somebody that I was really good friends with that I wish I would have taken more serious…cause She was a really, really close friend of mine for a small amount of time…And then we just kind of disconnected–it was Aaliyah.”
He continued:
“And we just didn’t get around to it, we just kinda talked but didn’t do it.”
When asked if their busy schedule as ’90s teen sensations got in the way, Usher replied:
“No, we were friends, we hung out. We watched movies together and hung out. But it didn’t go there.”

After Aaliyah’s untimely death in 2001, Usher paid tribute to the 22-year-old singer on multiple occasions. The “U Got It Bad” crooner dedicated his rendition of Boyz II Men’s “It’s So Hard to Say Goodbye to Yesterday” to her twice. He stopped by BET’s 106 & Park to perform the song and sang it again during his visit to Live with Regis and Kelly.
