Megan Thee Stallion Gets Key To The City Of Houston & Lands Her Own Official Day

It looks like Megan Thee Stallion has officially received her own hot girl holiday!

On Sunday, May 1, Megan Thee Stallion, 27, was awarded the key to Houston Texas by Mayor Sylvester Turner. In addition to that, the “Sweetest Pie” rapper was given her very own day in her hometown as well. According to reports, officials declared May 2 as “Megan Thee Stallion Day” to recognize the entertainer’s philanthropic contributions, including the Pete and Thomas Foundation launched in 2021. The date also holds significant importance to Megan Thee Stallion because it is her mother and grandmother’s birthday. Both ladies, unfortunately, passed away in 2019.

During her special ceremony, Megan spoke about how her mom and grandmother had a positive impact on her life. She said,

“Both of these women helped me grow into the woman that I am today. I don’t know what kind of lady I would be if granny didn’t raise me to be so kind and so giving. You could walk by these ladies’ house and they givin’ out dollars, candy—whatever they’ve got, they’re givin’ it out the door.”

She added,

“And I always wanted to be just like that. I wanted to be nice like them. They made me feel so beautiful and so loved, and they made everybody they met feel just like that. So I was like, ‘When I grow up, I wanna be just like them.”

Mayor Sylvester Turner also spoke on Megan’s latest achievement and said,

“Megan Thee Stallion has an extraordinary entertainment career, but we wanted to honor her for what she does offstage to lift people’s lives in underserved communities. She assisted people after the 2021 winter storm, during the pandemic, and helped those struggling with homelessness. I look forward to watching her grow as an artist and humanitarian.”

After the ceremony, Megan was all smiles in the pictures she posted from the event. She captioned the images,

“Came home real quick to get THEE KEY TO THEE CITY and in honor of my mother and grandmother’s birthday MAY 2ND is officially MEGAN THEE STALLION DAY IN HOUSTON, TX,” Megan Thee Stallion wrote on Instagram. “Thank you Mayor Sylvester Turner for honoring me today and I will continue to give back to the city that made me who I am today #htown.”
