During her cover interview with “Allure” for the June/July 2022 Melanin Edit issue, 23-year-old Chlöe Bailey opened up about feeling insecure about having “thick thighs and a butt” while growing up. She told the publication,
“It’s complicated. I’ve always had thick thighs and a butt. But I was growing up at a time when, if someone on television told you that you had a big butt, they meant it as an insult.”
The “Have Mercy” singer continued,
“So, I was a little ashamed of my curves. I tried to hide them. It took a very, very long time.”
And now, after years of self love and body acceptance, insecurities are no longer a worry for Bailey. In fact, the most fragile parts of her body at one point have become the parts that she now admires the most. She said,
“Now my favorite thing about [my body] is my butt.”
While overcoming body insecurities, Bailey is now acceptant of not being perfect and getting candid with her fans on her journey to self love.
“We’re not all supposed to be perfect, like bad b*tch and confident all the time. We have different layers, ebbs and flows to our lives. It would be completely unfair for me to portray myself to the world like I have no problems. Because I do.”
