Nene Leakes On Some Speculating She Began Dating Too Soon After Husband’s Passing

Reality star Nene Leakes, 54, is clearing the air on her dating life following the passing of her late husband, Gregg Leakes.

On September 1, 2021, Gregg Leakes “peacefully” died at age 66 following his battle with stage III colon cancer. The pair first married in 1997 and then divorced in 2011, but remarried in 2013. They shared one child together, Brentt Leakes, 22.

Since her husband’s passing, Nene Leakes has been keeping herself open to dating and finding her love match again.

Three months after Gregg Leakes’ passing, television personality Nene Leakes confirmed she is dating again. According to Nene, she said her late husband gave her his blessing before he passed. She began dating fashion designer boyfriend named Nyonisela Sioh, 56, in December.

During a recent Instagram LIVE, the “Real Housewives of Atlanta” alum spoke on the way she is perceived by people after moving on from her late husband. Nene said:

“I think a lot of people think that I have just moved on. Now I was with somebody for 25 years so I loved him unconditionally, one. Two, you take vows and your vows say ‘To death do you part,’ right? When that unfortunate thing happens, you can go on with your life.”

She continued:

“However, the one thing a person whose lost someone in their life that’s that close to them, they don’t need to be left alone.”

Nene added that she’s never lost anyone in her life close to her until Gregg’s passing. She insisted that when someone is grieving from a loss, it’s a crucial time to be around the love of others. She shared:

“This person was the closest person to me. [Someone] I’ve known since I was in my 20’s. So, I found it very odd when people were saying ‘She should be alone’ or ‘She shouldn’t be dating.’ No, I’m about to date everybody what the h*ll is y’all talking about?”
