Anita Baker is giving flowers and praises to famed rapper Lil Wayne.
Anita Baker had a concert over the weekend in Las Vegas and Lil Wayne was amongst those who came to see the singer perform live. During her performance, Anita Baker stopped her show to acknowledge Lil Wayne. As she offered him praises, the “Miss Me” rapper stood up and smiled as the crowd of concertgoers applauded.
Wayne, 39, has made it clear throughout his ongoing hip-hop career that he is a fan of the R&B soul icon. He sampled Baker’s “Best Thing Yet.” Wayne also did a freestyle on Beyonce’s “Upgrade You,” implying that he listens to Baker while riding around. He raps,
“Sittin’ In Da Coupe, Lookin Like A Racer, Top Peeled Back Like Da Skin Of A Potato, Seat Way Back Listen To Anita Baker.”
Lil Wayne wasn’t the only rapper to receive love from the singing icon during her show. Before Wayne’s acknowledgement, Baker gave praise to Chance The Rapper. According to reports, after decades of fighting, Chance The Rapper helped Baker regain ownership of her masters. Anita told the audience:
“You should say hello to a friend of mine by way of the music industry and by way of helping me, helping me to get a hold and ownership of my master recordings.”
