He also accused the network of feeding into homophobia within Hip Hop culture. In one tweet Lil Nas X wrote:

On Tuesday (June 7) BET responded to the 23-year-old artist, reminding the world that Lil Nas X performed at the award ceremony in the past and that they are supporters of his music. They wrote:
“We love Lil Nas X. He was nominated for a best new artist BET Award in 2020, and we proudly showcased his extraordinary talent and creativity on the show twice: he performed “Old Town Road” with Billy Ray Cyrus at BET Awards 2019 and his BET Awards 2021 performance was a highlight of our show. No one cheered louder that night than BET.”

It appears BET’s statement didn’t satisfy the “Old Town Road” rapper. After promoting his new track “Late To Da Party” with multiple fake brand ads, Lil Nas X took to social media on Tuesday (Jun.21) and released a fake BET promotional video to once again announce his new song which is slated to be released this Friday (Jun.24).
The video, which was edited to look like an official BET ad for the award show, shows the rapper accepting trophies on various stages with convincing text and voiceovers. However, at the end of the ad, instead of giving the date for the BET Awards show, the release date for Lil Nas X’s new song is revealed.
