In March 2020, Kenneth Petty, husband to rapper Nicki Minaj, was arrested by United States Marshals for failing to register as a sex offender in the state of California.

As previously reported, Kenneth Petty, 44, pleaded guilty last year to his failure to register, which is a federal charge. Yesterday (July 6), Kenneth’s case was resolved with the official sentencing in a Los Angeles courtroom. A judge sentenced him to three years probation and one year of home detention. He is also ordered to pay $55,000 as a fine.

According to reports, prosecutors aren’t fond of Kenneth being confined to house arrest at the massive Calabasas home he and Nicki Minaj share. The home, which resides inside a gated community, includes a pool, state-of-the-art music studio, and a luxurious backyard. Instead, prosecutors wanted Kenneth hit with 15 months in prison, five years supervised release, and the $55,000 in retribution.

Following the sentencing, Nicki Minaj, 39, shared adorable photos of her, her husband Kenneth, and their son on her official Instagram account.

Kenneth was convicted of first-degree attempted rape of a then-16-year-old girl in New York in 1995 and must register as a sex offender upon any change of address as a condition of the sentence. The assault happened when he was 16 years old and he served almost four and a half years in prison.

Kenneth moved to California and married Nicki in 2019. The pair had their first child together in 2020. They nicknamed him “Papa Bear.”

Besides Nicki’s cryptic post, neither have yet to comment publicly on the sentencing.
