Actor Daniel Kaluuya Shares How He Learned That His New Film Was Titled ‘Nope’: I Laughed For 30 Seconds [VIDEO]
Actor Daniel Kaluuya recently revealed his reaction after finding out the title of his new horror film called “Nope.”
The 33-year-old British actor is currently promoting the upcoming movie as he gets ready for the premiere of Jordan Peele’s latest horror-comedy film.
During a recent interview on “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,” Daniel Kaluuya said he broke down laughing when he learned that film director Jordan Peele was titling his new horror movie “Nope.” While on the NBC talk show, Daniel Kaluuya said:
“For whatever reason, he was developing it and I was like, ‘what’s it called?’ I had never asked him what it was called. He said, “Nope.” I laughed for 30 seconds. Like, that was so funny.”
“‘Cause he said that’s the reaction that Black people will have when they watch it. They’re like ‘nope,’ ‘nope’ and I was like ‘yeah.’”
As previously reported, the Academy Award-winning actor will not be reprising his “Black Panther” role in the anticipated sequel “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” due to scheduling conflicts on Jordan Peele’s upcoming film “Nope,” in which Kaluuya is the lead character.
“Nope” is a mystery-thriller film written and directed by Jordan Peele, 43 — marking his newest directorial project. The sci-fi horror flick stars Kaluuya and actress Keke Palmer, 28, who plays his sister. The film tells the story of caretakers OJ (Kaluuya) and his sister Emerald Haywood (Keke Palmer) at their California horse ranch as they encounter a mysterious force that affects both human and animal behavior.
“Nope” will premiere in theaters in the U.S. on July 22.
