Kendrick Lamar is making sure to give flowers to those who have helped him along the way.
On Saturday (Aug. 6) Kendrick Lamar performed for a sold-out crowd at the Barclays Center while on the New York stop of his “Mr. Morale & The Big Steppers” tour. Following the event, Kendrick Lamar took his talents to Dumbo House, an upscale, members-only club overlooking the East River. Those who were lucky enough to make it inside the intimate after-party got to rub elbows with not only Kendrick but also Beyonce and Jay-Z.

At some point during the evening, Kendrick jumped on the mic and gave the partygoers a calm performance of a few of his hits, including his song “The Heart Part 5” off of his latest album “Mr. Morale & the Big Steppers.”
During the song, Kendrick paused and took a moment to thank Jay-Z for clearing a lyric for the tune. He said,
“Hov, good looking out for clearing that m*thaf*cking line.”
He continued,
“You ain’t never charged me for no m*thaf*cking line, dawg. I really appreciate that sh*t.”

The line in question is “I do this for my culture,” which originated on Jay-Z’s 2001 song “Izzo (H.O.V.A.).” During the track, Jay-Z raps,
“I do this for my culture, to let ’em know
What a n*gga look like when a n*gga in a roadster”
Kendrick sampled the line in his 2022 song “The Heart Part 5,” where he raps,
“I said I do this for my culture
To let ya’ll know what a n*gga look like in a bulletproof Rover”
Kendrick has definitely had a Beyonce and Jay-Z-filled weekend. As previously reported, he was one of many A-listers partying with the famous couple over the weekend during Beyonce’s “Renaissance” release party. Others in attendance were Lala Anthony, Janelle Monae, Tina Knowles, and Donald Glover.
