50 Cent Allegedly Replaced T.I With Method Man On ‘Power Book II’ Due To Beef, Says Cast
T.I was originally supposed to play David Maclean before being replaced by Method Man.
According to reports, Michael Rainey Jr. and Gianni Paolo (also known as Tariq St. Patrick and Brayden Weston on Power) were asked to share insight on 50 Cent’s upcoming season of Power Book II: Ghost. The on-screen crime duo discussed season three while revealing never-heard information regarding the hit show’s original casting choices.
For instance, rapper T.I was initially set to play the role of lawyer, David Maclean. Following his casting, T.I had a dispute with creator 50 Cent, which moved the 47-year-old in the direction to give Method Man, born Clifford Smith, Jr., the role. Gianni Paolo shared:
“I heard T.I. was supposed to play Method Man’s character. And then, I don’t know if there was a beef or something happened but then he never wound up playing him and Method was Davis Maclean.”
Michael Rainey Jr. added:
“Early in the production, like before we started filming, obviously. I don’t know what the case might have been.”
Gianni Paolo said even though it’s a rumor, he believes T.I failed to appear on the show because if an alleged beef between the rappers. The 26-year-old said:
“I think so. We showed up to set and Method was there, so that was really it.”
Michael Rainey Jr. chimed in:
“I was hype to see Meth though.”
The interviewer asked the on-screen roommates if T.I, born Clifford Joseph Harris Jr, would’ve played David Maclean better than Method Man. In agreeance, Paolo and Rainey Jr. said:
The two cast members admitted that 50 cent, born Curtis James Jackson III, leaves his beef off of the set. Rainey Jr., 21 said:
“Everytime 50 comes to set he makes the energy great. Honestly like, if there was to ever be a beef on set and 50 would come to set, that sh*t would be squashed.”
“He’s good about that!”
