On Friday (Sept. 9) the Atlanta Falcons took to social media to share their new anthem “Rise Up” performed by Power actor Rotimi. In the video, Rotimi represents the city of Atlanta by wearing a #7 Falcons jersey. In the song the 33-year-old sings:

“Red, black and white yeah/We gon’ rise up/ATL that city, we go higher!”

Following the release of the track, Atlanta rapper T.I. had a few questions for the Atlanta Falcons for disregarding the local artists in the Georgia city. In an 11-minute live video on Instagram T.I. vented:

“We have so much culture, so much talent in the city, man. So many hardcore, die-hard Falcon fans that happen to be A-list talent in the city.”

T.I., born Clifford Joseph Harris Jr., continued:

“Who did you call? I know Quavo would’ve did it. I know 2 Chainz would’ve did it. I know Killer Mike would’ve did it. I mean, I would’ve did it. I know Jeezy would’ve did it. N*gg*, bruh, who approved that? Who’s sitting in these meetings?”

The 41-year-old added:

“Bruh, I just hate to see it. I hate to see it ‘cause now you starting the season off with automatic animosity between you and the fans. Why? Why? Why create such a wedge for yourself?”

On Sunday (Sept. 11) the “Whatever You Like” rapper took to Instagram to continue to “prove a point.” He shared an image of Atlanta rappers Ludacris, Jeezy, and himself. In a caption he said:

“Yoooo @atlantafalcons  Dis what it’s posed to hit like… Y’all need some help hit us…”

Fans also took to Twitter to share their thoughts on Rotimi being the chosen singer for the Falcon’s anthem.
