Bill Cosby — Judge Denies Entertainer’s Request For New Trial In Case Of Woman Who Claimed He Sexually Assaulted Her At The Playboy Mansion When She Was 16
A court is not granting Bill Cosby a new trial in the case of Judy Huth.
America’s former television patriarch requested a fresh trial after being found liable for sexually assaulting Judy Huth in June. He was sentenced to pay her $500,000 in damages for her psychological harm. The woman said that the assault happened inside the Playboy Mansion when she was 16 years old.
Judy Huth testified that Bill Cosby forced her to masturbate him after locking her in a bedroom and attempting to slip his hand down her pants. Bill Cosby’s lawyers previously said it was challenging for them to mount a convincing defense because Huth changed her timeline (she initially claimed the assault occurred in 1974 but then said 1975).
During the trial, Huth testified,
“It was not what I wanted at all. I was freaking out.”
Huth‘s representative Gloria Allred praised the judge’s ruling and said Cosby needs to take accountability. According to Gloria Allred,
“Once again we won and Bill Cosby lost. …The jury found that Bill Cosby was responsible for sexual battery of a child. Child sexual abuse is reprehensible. Mr. Cosby should take responsibility, rather than continuing to fight the jury’s verdict which our law firm, (Allred, Maroko & Goldberg) fought for and won.”
Cosby’s spokesman Andrew Wyatt also released a statement following the failed motion. Although they were, indeed, disappointed, the ruling came as no surprise.
Andrew Wyatt said,
“We have always stood the ground by saying, ‘this was a trial by assassination against Mr. Cosby.’ The after glow for Mr. Cosby is that he maintains his innocence and vehemently denies all alleged allegations waged against him.”
As previously reported, Cosby’s legal team denied all allegations from Huth and accused her of using the trial as a money grab. Andrew Wyatt previously said,
“Since we stand on the foundation of truth and facts, we believe that Mr. Cosby will be vindicated of ALL allegations in order to move forward with life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness.”
The Pennsylvania Supreme Court reversed Cosby‘s sexual assault conviction in 2021, and he was released from a three to a 10-year prison sentence.
