Jonathan Majors ‘Likely’ To Portray Dennis Rodman In Upcoming Movie, Which Tells The Story Of The Basketball Star’s Infamous Vegas Trip During The 1998 NBA Championship

TV and film star Jonathan Majors may have the chance to portray an NBA legend!

According to reports, the Lovecraft Country star is in serious talks to play the role of Dennis Rodman in an upcoming movie about the athlete’s 1998 trip in Sin City. Former Chicago Bulls star Dennis Rodman, 61, was infamous for being the NBA’s bad boy in his prime and had everyone talking after mysteriously disappearing for 48 hours during that year’s basketball championship finals. Following Michael Jordan’s biopic The Last Dance, which briefly covered the topic, a script for the story was green-lit and purchased by Lionsgate.

Reports state negotiations with Jonathan Majors, 33, have begun and are “headed in the right direction,” though nothing is finalized. The entertainer is said to be excited about the project and fully on board. Majors has increasingly gained notoriety for his acting skills following his breakout role in HBO’s sci-fi series Lovecraft Country, which led to his first Emmy nomination. Since then, the actor has gone on to star in the Jay Z-produced hit Netflix film The Harder They Fall.

Majors reached another height after singing on to be part of the Marvel universe. The actor made his debut as Kang the Conqueror in the Loki series and will reprise the role in subsequent films.

Majors also has a number of projects coming out in the next couple of years, starring as U.S. Navy fighter pilot, Jesse Brown in Black Label Media’s war epic Devotion, as well as Adonis Creed’s rising nemesis in the film Creed III alongside Michael B. Jordan.

48 Hours In Vegas, executive produced by Rodman, will tell a dramatic version of the athlete’s budding relationship with the Bulls’ then assistant GM – who was with the all-star during the time he disappeared. Reportedly, the story will also feature characters portraying model Carmen Electra, who Rodman was dating at the time, as well as famed NBA coach Phil Jackson.
