Kenny ‘Babyface’ Edmonds Says ‘I Don’t Make Moves,’ Revealing He Only Dates Women Who Approach Him First Due To Fear Of Rejection

Looks like women who want a shot at dating legendary musician Babyface will have to put the moves on him first.

While visiting Angela Yee’s Lip Service podcast, the 64-year-old singer revealed that he doesn’t approach women, after stating he doesn’t necessarily like “bad girls.”

After Yee suggests that guys typically like “bad girls,” theJasmineBrand founder Jasmine Brand, who also guest appears on the episode, asks Babyface if bad girls are his preference. The artist replies:

“Nah…Maybe cause I don’t think bad girls like me….I think you like who like’s you…No one wants to go up and get embarrassed.”

The hosts then go on to ask the famed music writer if he normally only dates women who approach him first. He responds:

“Pretty much….It’s kind of just….I don’t go after, if it happens organically [ok]….I don’t make moves,”

Jasmine Brand then asks Babyface if he chooses not to approach women first due to not wanting to be rejected, to which he states:

“I think so.”

Edmond’s dating preference revelation could explain why the Grammy-Award-winning artist has a relatively short list of public romantic partners. The singer was married to TV personality Tracy Edmonds from 1992 – 2005 before wedding Pantenburg back in 2014. Tracy went on to date comedian Eddie Murphy as well as former NFl’er Deion Sanders following their split.

Babyface married Nicole “Nikki” Pantenburg (former backup dancer for and personal friend of Janet Jackson) in 2014. They have a daughter born in 2008. The pair split in 2021.

While it was rumored that Babyface and famed artist Toni Braxton may have once been romantically involved, the two steadily denied it. The Indiana native has written a number of records with Braxton, including “Give You My Heart” and “Hurt You.” Braxton fueled speculations after once calling Edmonds her “work husband,” but insisted that the two are just longtime close friends.
