Lauryn Hill’s Daughter Selah Defends Her Decision To Wear Kanye’s ‘White Lives Matter’ Shirt: Most Of Y’all Are Stuck In A Hive Mind Mentality
Lauryn Hill’s daughter, Selah Marley, is defending her decision to walk in Kanye West’s controversial Yeezy show, which showcased models wearing T-shirts with the words “White Lives Matter.”
On Monday (Oct. 3), Kanye West’s Yeezy Season 9 Fashion Show took place in Paris and quickly went viral when he and conservative commentator Candace Owens posed in “White Lives Matter” shirts during the presentation at Paris Fashion Week. The rapper responded to the criticism by calling the Black Lives Matter movement a “scam.”

In a now-deleted Instagram post, the “Praise God” rapper wrote:
“EVERYONE KNOWS BLACK LIVES MATTER WAS A SCAM. NOW IT’S OVER. YOU’RE WELCOME.”

Apparently, one of the models seen sporting the offensive gear was Lauryn Hill’s daughter Selah Marley. She was featured in Ye’s fashion show and later shared a video of her talking and laughing with Kanye West while wearing one of the oversized controversial tops.

“The past 24 hours has allowed me to realize that most of y’all are stuck in a hive mind mentality. You do what the group tells you to do & think what the group tells you to think. Witnessing someone break free from ‘the agenda’ sends you all into such a panic that you will do whatever it takes to force them back into the box that you feel they should exist in. All morale & empathy is eliminated due to the fact that you feel justified by your emotions. The victim becomes the victimizer.”

Selah continued,
“You cannot bully me, manipulate me, or coax me into silence. Nor will you bully me into being who you want me to be. I don’t care how many tweets you make, DMs you send, or articles you write. Throughout all the chaos, I have yet to speak on my experience. If you know me, you know that nothing I do is without deep thought and intention. Wait ’til you hear what I have to say.”

In a follow-up post hours later, the 23-year-old model shared a screenshot of a text message she had sent to Kanye, in which she said, in part:
“I think what we did has obviously created a lot of conversation & I would like us to continue that conversation & provide the necessary depth & clarity that we are both extremely capable of.”
She continued,
“I love taking risks & embracing freedom, but in this case, I think we can continue to discuss the depth behind our decisions to show the purity of our intentions & provide healing to our community. love you so much. Let’s keeping this going—in a healthy way.”

Soon after she posted her message, Kanye reshared Selah’s post on his Instagram Story.
