Megan Thee Stallion Holds Back Tears During ‘SNL’ Performance, Emotional Moment Seemingly Fueled By Burnout & Recent Burglary

Megan Thee Stallion had an emotional moment during her recent SNL performance.

Megan The Stallion, real name Megan Pete, became emotional while performing “Anxiety” during her SNL set on Saturday (October 15). Saturday’s episode marked Megan Thee Stallion’s second SNL appearance following a stint as a musical guest back in 2020.

She did double duties over the weekend as both the host and musical guest, and the rapper was seemingly excited for the rare milestone. Megan Thee Stallion wrote on Twitter:

“Hosting andddd performingggg…REAL HOT GIRL SH*T”

But the Hot Girl Coach had a hard time holding it together while performing “Anxiety.” Though she got through the entire set, Megan visibly teared up during the song’s dense bars about mental health, her mother’s passing, and her treatment in the music industry.

According to the rapper’s Twitter page, burnout and a recent burglary had already taken a toll on her before she took the stage.

Megan shared an apologetic tweet on Friday night (October 14) before SNL aired, confirming that her Los Angeles home had been burglarized. She added that following her SNL performance, she was taking a much-needed break.

Megan wrote:

“Hotties im really sorry but after SNL I really gotta take a break. I’m so tired, physically and emotionally. Material things can be replaced but I’m glad everyone is safe.”

The “Anxiety” performance set also reflected the woes that have plagued Megan since her breakout success. The performance had a beauty pageant theme with Megan dressed as “Miss Anxiety” surrounded by backup dancers; “Miss Overworked,” “Miss Overlooked,” “Miss Overwhelmed,” “Miss Insecure” and “Miss Underpaid.”

By the time she hit the chorus, Megan’s voice started to crack. When she got to the lines referencing her late mother, she shifted the mic while fighting back tears. Many fans and friends took to Twitter to show her support. Fellow rapper Latto tweeted,

“We love you Megan! Your perseverance is inspiring DON’T LET UP (heart emoji)”

Although she didn’t directly reference the SNL clip, singer Chloe Bailey also posted “Anxiety’s” lyrics in a recent tweet:

“bad b*tches have bad days 2”

Tina Snow’s rise to the top of the rap game has been an exciting but tumultuous ride. Megan shared how she’s been coping during her SNL monologue stating:

“Finishing college while pursuing a rap career is not easy, and I did that while putting out song after song and going on a world tour. So now I can go by another name: Megan Thee B*tch That Needs Some Sleep.”

The 27-year-old also plugged her recently launched website, www.badbitcheshavebaddaystoo.com, which features a host of resources and directories such as therapy for Black Men and Black Girls, the Dear Black Women project as well as Melanin and Mental Health.
