Kanye West Issues An Apology To The Black Community For Claiming George Floyd Died From A Drug Overdose & Not Police Brutality, Rapper Later Calls Out Mother Of Floyd’s Daughter: Now Because Of Words You Want To Sue Me For $250 Million
Kanye “Ye” West is threatening to take back his recently issued apology over a potential $250 million suit.
In an interview with the paparazzi on Friday night (Oct. 28), Kanye “Ye” West discussed all the problems plaguing his career and made a stunning comparison to George Floyd. The rapper’s personal devastation and recent losses even prompted an apology to the family of the slain Minneapolis man. He said,
“So, when I questioned the death of George Floyd, it hurt my people. I want to apologize. Because God has showed me by what Adidas is doing, by what the media is doing, I know what it feels to have a knee on my neck right now.”
This was not the case a few weeks ago when the rapper’s partnerships and billionaire status were still intact. During a now-deleted interview with Drink Champs, the founder of Yeezy shared claims that George Floyd’s death was due to fentanyl, not suffocation. Kanye West maintained this stance despite the viral video footage of former police officer Derek Chauvin’s knee on George Floyd’s neck for nearly nine minutes and his ultimate conviction.
His assertions drew backlash and criticism from many, including the Black community and George Floyd’s family. Following the Donda Academy founder’s comments, reports surfaced that a $250 million lawsuit could be filed against Kanye on behalf of George Floyd’s daughter. Even though a real lawsuit has yet to be filed, it seems like Kanye feels some type of way about the speculation.
Today (Oct 30), he took to Instagram and called out the mother of George Floyd’s daughter for the potential suit. In a lengthy IG message, he posted an image of Roxie Washington — Floyd’s daughter’s mother — and said,
“Now for Roxie Washington and Roxie Washington ALONE. I gave 2 million dollars out of my pocket for the family. To help George’s daughter…Your daughter! I can guarantee that most of those that came for me after my comments didn’t do what I did! Even those with millions of dollars in the bank! How much did BLM give???? Many gave words. I ACTED.”
He continued,
“Now because of words you want to sue me for 250 million dollars…
….when I’m going through an Economic lynching. A Digital Lynching. A Social Credit Score bankrupting. You’re either being controlled or you’re being greedy… But You better get you some business… 4 GOD get mad. This is how you try someone who was there for your family???? You will never get money from no one else.”
He added,
“GOD don’t like ugly…To the Floyd family: I apologized to you and the black community for my comments on Drink Champs. Humbly… Now Come get Roxie before she mess up all y’all money. The Bible is the umbilical chord…Stay Connected.”
During Kanye’s recent impromptu interview he also said,
“So, thank you God for humbling me and letting me know how it really felt. Because how could the richest Black men ever be humbled other than to be made to not be a billionaire in front of everyone off a comment.”
However, it was not just one comment, it was several. His hot takes on the Jewish community soured his business reputation and killed deals with Adidas, Balenciaga, and Peloton, to name a few.
Kanye WestThe 45-year-old recently apologized to the Jewish community, but expounded further on Friday,
“I didn’t realize I could be antisemitic until I read a definition of antisemitism. I didn’t realize it was antisemitic to say I have a Jewish attorney, I have a Jewish record label, I have a Jewish contractor.”
However, he still seems to use the same off-putting language to address his thoughts on Jewish people. For one, he took the opportunity to equate the Holocaust with Planned Parenthood once again by saying that the number of Jews killed in Nazi Germany paled in comparison to the number of Black people killed in abortions.
When asked about possibly tarnishing his legacy, he answered,
“I’m not worried. God is alive. God runs the world. God even runs Hollywood. God is alive and he’s using me right now. He chose me for such a time as this.”
