Peacock has just released a first look teaser of the third installment to the films, a limited series which will premiere on their streaming platform later this year. “The Best Man: The Final Chapters” will see the return of most of the original cast, which includes Morris Chestnut, Taye Diggs, Nia Long, Regina Hall, Terrence Howard, Melissa De Sousa, Sanaa Lathan, and Harold Perrineau. The other star character Mia, portrayed by Monica Calhoun in the original films, tragically died in the second movie.
The 1:24 clip showcases our favorite movie friend group 20 years after becoming a household phenomenon. The original movie, “The Best Man” was was released in 1999 and the sequel, “The Best Man Holiday” in 2013.

Malcolm D. Lee, who created the popular franchise, tells the story of a unique and dynamic group of friends turned family, and the trials and tribulations they face as they journey though adulthood. Lee previously spoke about “The Final Chapters'” likely being the end of the famed series, stating:
“This is a fitting way to tie up the legacy of these characters. I don’t have any more stories to tell. Maybe I will in 20 more years, but the way I feel right now, I’ve gone as far as I can with these characters,”

From the clip, it seems the story will be based around Taye Diggs character Harper, who is turning his controversial book into a film. Haper’s breakout novel spilled a few dark secrets and caused turmoil between the friends in the first film.
The story will reportedly catch up on the lives of the main characters, Robyn, Jordan, Lance, Quentin, Shelby, Candace, and Murch as they continue navigating life and experience their own midlife crisis’.
All eight episodes of the limited series are set to premiere December 22nd.
