Drake & 21 Savage’s ‘Her Loss’ Reportedly Hits One Billion Spotify Streams In Less Than Two Months
“Her Loss” is turning out to be a BIG win for rappers Drake and 21 Savage.
As previously reported, in October, Drake, 36, announced plans to release a collaborative album with fellow rapper 21 Savage, 30, called “Her Loss.” Initially, the project was scheduled to drop on Oct. 28. However, it was slightly delayed until Nov. 4 after OVO record producer 40 contracted COVID-19 during the album’s mixing and mastering process.
Once the album finally became available, fans wasted no time streaming the body of music, so much so that the rap duo reportedly had the biggest first-week numbers for a Hip-Hop/R&B album in 2022! In addition, as “Her Loss” soared to the top of the Billboard 200 albums chart, Taylor Swift’s “Midnights,” released on Oct. 21, was bumped from the top spot.
Now it looks like Drake and 21 Savage, born Shéyaa Abraham-Joseph, have earned yet another accolade for “Her Loss.” According to reports, the album, which features 16 tracks, has surpassed one billion Spotify streams in a little under two months! Reportedly, this marks 21 Savage’s first album to grab one billion streams on the platform, while Drake now holds the record with 12 straight albums hitting the mark.
Despite the album’s success, the project has faced some criticism as well. As previously reported, on the album Drake and 21 Savage alluded that Megan Thee Stallion lied about getting shot by Tory Lanez. After Megan Thee Stallion called the rappers out on Twitter for their bars, the Southern Black Girls & Women’s Consortium collaborated with powerful figures to write an open letter that was dedicated to Megan and condemned violence against women.
Tory Lanez was ultimately found guilty of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. He’s facing over 20 years in prison and deportation. His sentencing has been set for January 27.
