Rapper Tef Poe Expresses Concerns Gangsta Boo’s Music Will be Disrespected Following Her Death: Boo Had Certain Songs She Didn’t Want Sampled
A close friend of rap star Gangsta Boo is defending the wishes she had for her music.
Rapper Tef Poe, who claims to have been a close confidant of the Three 6 Mafia member, recently shared the artist had clear thoughts about her music being sampled. Poe went on to state he believes what his friend wanted for her music will not be respected following her death.

In a series of tweets, Poe wrote:
“I know for fact Boo had certain songs she didn’t want certain ppl sampling. We had some real convos about one artist in particular taking her stuff blindly and remixing it without shouting her out. She’s gone now. They about to have a field day with her classics. Just watch.”
He continued:
“She was far from a hater. Actually she responded to that energy better than most male emcees would have if it happened to us. But she def didn’t want ppl microwaving her classics into their own songs without a head nod towards her. Once again we actually talked about this.”

Adding:
“I can’t say names but read between the lines. They’ll give it some time and then out the blue the exact records she specifically said this person can’t sample per her vocalized request directly to their shared music producer will be diced and sliced…They do it to the living so what you think they got for the dead?”

As previously reported, Gangsta Boo, born Lola Chantrelle Mitchell was found deceased from an alleged overdose earlier this week. Artists everywhere mourned the Memphis native following her passing, including southern rap stars Latto and GloRilla.

Poe also posted an emotional goodbye to his friend following her passing, writing:
Speechless. She was a true friend to me beyond measure. We had just talked this weekend. We always talked. We gave each other a space to be humans not rappers. She was also like a big homie….We clashed at first and then we became each other’s therapist….Even if we stayed out of touch for too long we’d get back right where we left off. We had a genuine love for each other and the art of hip hop.

And continuing:
“She was supposed to come to St.Louis and work with us. We talked about that this weekend and when it would happen. I know for a fact she intended on living. Because we talked about LIFE so damn much.”
Gangsta Boo laid down vocals on several hits solo and with the Three 6 Mafia crew, including “Poppin My Collar,” “Stay Fly,” and “Where Them Dollas At.” The artist’s famous “yea h*e” lyric still appears in samples to date. Most recently, the musician’s vocals appeared in Latto’s record “FTCU,” featuring GloRilla.
