T.J. Holmes & Amy Robach Hire ‘high-powered lawyers’ To Fight ABC As Suspension Continues, Legal Team May Question If Race Plays A Part

T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach have lawyered up and are prepared to sue ABC if the network fires the former ‘GMA’ co-anchors following their romantic affair.

According to reports, the co-hosts hired “high-powered lawyers to fight the network.” Sources say if T.J. Holmes, 45, and Amy Robach, 49, are kept off the air, the lawyers are ready to file suit and race may come into play. Reportedly, the lawyers will pose this question to ABC:

“Has ABC ever used the morals or conduct clause to fire or discipline 2 consenting adults at equal levels when both were white?”

The sources go on to say it would be “very telling” if this is the first time this happened involving a black and white anchor. They say the damages could be “enormous” if Amy and TJ’s careers and reputations are ruined, due to the network firing them.

Amy hired Andrew Brettler, a well-known civil lawyer in Hollywood, and TJ hired Eric George, a lawyer who has handled several celebrity cases.

As previously reported, T.J. Holmes and Amy Robach are temporarily suspended from the news program, “GMA 3” following their affair going public. ABC originally stated that as two consenting adults, neither of their employees technically violated any company policies. Still, the affair caused a wave of negative attention as both parties were still married to their spouses at the time they went public.

Earlier this month, an insider told sources that the reason the review is taking this long is because the network is being “super careful” after it was revealed that T.J. Holmes had multiple affairs with woman inside the workplace. The insider said,

“They want to make sure there aren’t going to be even more women coming out.”

Meanwhile, insiders say “people are frustrated” with ABC News boss Kim Godwin and how long it is taking them to make a decision on the GMA3 anchors. One insider said,

“The whole situation was totally mishandled, and the longer they wait to make a decision, it only makes things more complicated and worse.”

Another insider said,

“They put them on the air, pulled them off, and now it’s been weeks. A lot of people are like, ‘Come on, deal with this!’ They really need to handle it.”
