Whoopi Goldberg Not Here For ‘The View’ Co-Host Sunny Hosting Sharing Parents’ Shotgun Wedding Secret: I Would Take You Out If You Were My Kid
Some family secrets should be kept private, at least in Whoopi Goldberg‘s opinion.
The Sister Act star reportedly found it hard to believe her View co-host Sunny Hostin‘s confession that her parents had a secret shotgun wedding 15 days after she was born.
Sunny Hostin shared the news during the Wednesday (Jan. 25) episode of the ABC talk show. In response, Whoopi Goldberg said,
“And now you’re telling everyone.”

A shotgun wedding refers to one that is forced or hurried, particularly when the bride is expecting.
Sunny Hostin revealed during the show, which was about forgiving parents for past transgressions, that she discovered the shotgun wedding when looking through her parents’ photo album when she was about 12 years old. She said,
“My mom’s probably going to kill me.”
Hostin continued,
“I was looking through their wedding album, and embossed on the date was 10/05/1968, and I was like ‘Hm.’ I was born 10/20/1968. I said ‘Mom, that’s only 15 days later. You got married, and then you had me?’ And she goes, ‘Oh no, that was a typo.'”
The next time Hostin looked at the date, it had been altered to indicate the year before, she continued, but she had taken her mother’s word for it.
Whoopi Goldberg wasn’t really here for Hostin sharing such a secret. She claimed that her mother Emma Johnson “never told me anything” while she was growing up, despite the fact that they had a close relationship. Goldberg recalled,
“I said, ‘How old are you?’ And she said ‘Why do you need to know?'”
She continued,
“‘But you’re my mother, I figured we could share that!’ To the day she died, I did not know how old she was. There were things she felt she did not need to share with me.”
Hostin later clarified that her parents were married 15 days before her birth, but that didn’t matter to Goldberg, who replied:
“I would take you out if you were my kid.”
