Tom Brady Emotionally Calls It Quits On NFL Career For Second & Final Time: I’m Retiring For Good
Tom Brady is stepping away from the field, for good.
After playing in the National Football League for 23 years, Tom Brady took to social media to reveal in a 52-second video that he’s retiring, for real this time. On Wednesday (Feb. 1) Tom Brady shared with fans,
“I’ll get to the point right away. I’m retiring, for good.”
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback continued:
“I know the process was a pretty big deal last time, so when I woke up this morning I figured I’d just press record and let you guys know first. So it won’t be long winded, you can only get one super emotional retirement essay and I used mine up last year.”
This announcement comes one year after the 45-year-old first announced his retirement, a decision he reversed weeks later. Brady emotionally added:
“So I really thank you guys so much. To every single one of you for supporting me. My family, my friends, my teammates, my competitors, I can go on forever there’s too many. Thank you guys for allowing me to live my absolute dream. I wouldn’t change a thing. Love you all.”

Brady, who spent his first 20 seasons with the New England Patriots, is the only player to accomplish more than five Super Bowl wins and has been labeled the Super Bowl MVP five times. Reportedly, Brady can immediately start working with FOX Sports as an analyst, being guaranteed a 10-year, $375 million contract.

As previously reported, the now-retired football star finalized his divorce from supermodel Gisele Bundchen this past fall after 13 years of marriage. At the time of their initial separation, Brady took to his Instagram story to announce the news to their fans:
“In recent days, my wife and I finalized our divorce from one another after 13 years of marriage. We arrived at this decision amicably and with gratitude for the time we spent together. We are blessed with beautiful and wonderful children who will continue to be the center of our world in every way.”
He continued:
“We will continue to work together as parents to always ensure they receive the love and attention they deserve. We arrived at this decision to end our marriage after much consideration.”

He added:
“Doing so is, of course, painful and difficult, like it is for many people who go through the same thing every day around the world. However we wish only the best for each other as we pursue whatever new chapters in our lives that are yet to be written. And we kindly ask for privacy and respect as we navigate what is to come in the days and weeks ahead. Thank you.”
