NBA Star Bradley Beal’s Attorney Claims Athlete ‘Will Be Cleared Soon’ Amid Reports He’s Under Police Investigation Over Postgame Altercation w/ Fan

Washington Wizards shooting guard Bradley Beal is reportedly under police investigation after he was involved in an altercation with a heckler who claimed to have lost a bet.

According to reports, the incident occurred after the Wizards’ 122-112 loss to the Orlando Magic on Mar. 21 at Amway Center. As Bradley Beal and the Wizards were walking down the visitors’ tunnel headed to the locker room, an unidentified man reportedly yelled to the 29-year-old hooper,

“You f***ed me [out of] $1,300, you f***!”

As a response, Bradley Beal reportedly turned around, walked toward a friend of the heckler, and swatted his right hand toward him, knocking the man’s hat off as he allegedly connected with the left side of his head.

Reports state that the back-and-forth dispute lasted about 50 seconds before the NBA All-Star was ushered away, with Beal calling the comment “disrespectful.” While explaining to the fans this is his job and he takes it seriously, Beal said,

The following day, the alleged victim reportedly told police Beal hit him in the head when he swatted his hat and he wants to press charges against the athlete. Authorities then took a report for battery and began investigating.

According to reports, police noted there was enough probable cause to charge Beal with “simple battery” and that charges will be filed with the state attorney’s office.

The Wizards reportedly said in a statement,

“We are aware of the situation regarding Bradley Beal in Orlando but won’t have further comment until we’ve gathered more information.”

Beal’s attorney also stated,

“We are cooperating with the investigation and [Bradley’s] name will be cleared soon.”
