Rapper Desiigner Checks Himself Into A Mental Health Facility After Exposing Himself On An Airplane: I Was Not Thinking Clearly

Desiigner is seeking help for his mental health.

On Thursday (Apr. 20) Desiigner – born Sidney Royel Selby III – issued a statement on his social media after exposing himself on an airplane over the weekend. The rapper revealed that the medication he was prescribed while admitted to a hospital overseas played a role in his actions. Desiigner wrote:

“For the past few months I have not been ok, and I have been struggling to come to terms with what is going on.”

The “Panda” artist elaborated:

“While overseas for a concert I performed at, I had to be admitted into a hospital. I was not thinking clearly. They gave me meds, and I had to hop on a plane home. I am ashamed of my actions that happened on that plane. I landed back in the states and I am admitting myself in a facility to help me.”

The 25-year-old said he won’t be taking the stage until he’s mentally prepared. He added:

“I will be canceling all of my shows and any obligations until further notice. Mental health is real guys, please pray for me. If you’re not feeling like yourself please get help.”

Reportedly, the Brooklyn artist was on an international flight arriving back to the United States after making stops in Thailand and Tokyo. On Monday (Apr. 17) he was met by Minneapolis police upon his arrival for questioning after a flight attendant reprimanded the artist for exposing himself during the flight.

Desiigner was not arrested but he’s getting help to reassure himself that this doesn’t happen again.

The former Def Jam artist has been vocal about supporting the importance of mental health in the past. As previously reported, he donated to Power 105,1 morning radio show “The Breakfast Club’s” Chime 4 Change fundraiser, which raised money for mental health research in 2018. While on the phone with radio hosts, he also mentioned his sister’s battles with mental health issues which prompted him to donate.

theJasmineBRAND sends our prayers out to Desiigner.
