Babyface — Fans & Celebrities React To Music Mogul Being Dropped From Anita Baker’s Jersey Concert Due To Reported Technical Difficulties: ‘Here She Go w/ That Bullsh*t!’

The music world and music lovers are shocked that Babyface didn’t take the stage last night (May 10).

Last November fans of Anita Baker and Babyface were excited when news broke that the two singing icons were going on a joint tour together. The tour – scheduled to make 15 stops throughout the year– already held three shows in Florida, Georgia, and Louisiana back in February.

Following a two-month hiatus, the tour was set to resume Wednesday night (May 10) at the Prudential Center in Newark, New Jersey. Babyface was set to take the stage before Anita Baker, however, concertgoers were left stunned when a representative announced that he would no longer be opening the show for the soul mogul.

In a video captured by one of the concert attendees, you can hear fans booing the host who alleged the delay in the performances was due to “technical difficulties.”

Babyface soon took to his Instagram to confirm the news that he was no longer performing. However, according to the 12-time Grammy Award winner, his absence didn’t have anything to do with tech issues. Babyface — real name Kenneth Brian Edmonds — wrote:

“I am truly sorry to my fans who have been waiting for us to hit the stage this evening at the Prudential Center.”

Explaining the details behind his absence, the 64-year-old shared:

“I was asked not to perform in order to give Ms.Baker her space and time to perform her show in its entirety.”

He added:

“My band and I are extremely saddened we didn’t get to perform for y’all tonight.”

As expected, the singer’s post caused an uproar on social media. People who attended the Jersey tour stop claimed the show was a terrible experience. In addition, many of the fans read Anita Baker, 65, for filth, alleging Babyface didn’t get the opportunity to take the stage because of her “shenanigans.”

Celebrities also weighed in on the drama. Singer Stephanie Mills wrote under Babyface’s statement:

“I hate when this happens amongst our people. We should be thankful that people are still paying money to come to our shows. We’re not kids any more. This makes me really sad to see and read this.”

She added:

“Love you babyface you can come with me!”

Sherri Shepherd expressed:

“your fans missed the show of a lifetime”
