Nicki Minaj’s Mom Offers Free Plastic Surgery To Domestic Abuse Victims

Nicki Minaj’s mother is doing what she can to help victims of domestic violence.

According to reports, over the weekend Carol Maraj, the mother of famed rapper Nicki Minaj, announced that she’s teamed up with cosmetic surgeon Dr. Scott Blyer to give free plastic surgery makeovers to domestic violence survivors. You may recall that Carol Maraj is a survivor of domestic abuse and in 2013 she opened her self-titled foundation, which aims to help “battered women rebuild their lives and return to a place of wholeness,” according to its website.

Over the weekend, during a pre-Mother’s Day brunch hosted by the NAACP, Carol Maraj spoke on her latest endeavor and said:

“So often, when [women] finally break free it is with scars, broken bones and disfigurements. We will give these victims a new start that includes helping to restore their physical confidence.”

She also recalled seeing domestic abuse during her childhood in Trinidad and Tobago.

“I saw my father hit my mother in the head with a flashlight and we just moved on like it was nothing. I came to America and realized this is abuse, this is domestic violence, I’ve been living.”

Popular cosmetic surgeon Dr. Scott Blyer shared that the work he’s doing with the Carol Maraj Foundation will be absolutely free for the victims!

“A lot of women are embarrassed or ashamed or fearful to go to the hospital. We’re going to be donating our services, all of my surgical fees and so forth will be free of charge for anyone who has the courage to step away from a situation where they were involved with domestic violence.”

He added:

“Perhaps a broken nose, a laceration, [is] something where we can help them out.”

In Nicki Minaj’s “My Time Now” documentary, which aired in November 2010, she recalled witnessing the abuse her father put her mother through. According to the “Starships” rapper, her father, Robert Maraj, burned down her childhood home. She previously said:

“Me and my brother were at a neighbors house spending the night that night. They came to say ‘your house is burning down.’”

She continued:

“I remember when I got here I just saw big commotion and I was so scared I didn’t know what happened.”

Nicki, 40, added:

“I just looked, my house was gone. The house was gone. All my toys, all my clothes, all my memories.”

Carol Maraj also previously opened up about the abuse she faced from her late husband. In 2020, she published a memoir titled “Leaving My Pain” where she illustrates Robert dragging her from her car and striking her on the “head and face.” She wrote:

“After a while everything felt numb. I felt blood running down my face, my nose was bleeding and I was in a state of shock from that many hits to my head.”

Robert Maraj died at 65 in 2021 due to a hit-and-run incident. As previously reported, on Aug. 3, 2022, Charles Polevich – the man accused of fatally striking Nicki Minaj’s father with a vehicle – was ordered to serve 1 year in jail after pleading guilty to two felony charges — leaving the scene of an incident without reporting and tampering with physical evidence.
