Kandi Burruss & Husband Todd Tucker Join Producing Team Of Broadway-Bound ‘The Wiz’ Revival

They don’t call her Kandi “Secure A Bag” Burruss for nothing!

“Real Housewives of Atlanta” star Kandi Burruss, 47, is definitely in her winning season! As previously reported, earlier this month, she earned a nomination for a Southeast Emmy Award for her contributions to “La Musica de La Familia.”

A short 24 hours after receiving her first Emmy nod, news broke that the Broadway show Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker produced, “The Piano Lesson,” received a nomination in the “Best Revival of a Play” category for the upcoming Tony Awards.

Well, it looks like the power couple has secured another major win! The “Understanding” singer and her husband have joined the producing team for the Broadway-bound revival of “The Wiz.”

The production is set to kick off its national tour on September 23 at the Hippodrome Theatre in Baltimore. If you’re unable to catch the tour, hopefully, you’ll be able to watch the revival during its limited engagement on Broadway next Spring.

In a recently released statement, the power couple addressed their latest endeavor and said,

“We are thrilled to be part of The Wiz. The songs, choreography, costumes, everything about The Wiz is epic.”

They continued,

“We have always said we want to help open the doors of theatre to all people. Theatre has the power to influence and inspire people to create change through art, and that is what we all need now. Art can heal and art can change you. It has changed us. So, come on and ease on down the road with us.”

Kandi Burruss also shared the exciting news with her 10.5 million Instagram followers and said she’s,

“so excited about this one!”

In his own IG post confirming the news, Todd Tucker, 49, expressed,

“This is another big one for me. My mom took me to see The Wiz when I was little on Broadway and to have the chance to be a producer with my amazing wife @kandi on this production is such an honor! I am truly BLESSED!”

Casting for “The Wiz” Broadway revival will be announced at a later date. However, other key players in the production have been released. According to reports, Schele Williams has been tapped to direct the project. While Kristin Caskey, Mike Isaacson, Brian Anthony Moreland and Ambassador Theatre Group round out the producing team.
