Ari Lennox Pens Apology Message To Oprah Winfrey & Gayle King After Previously Calling Them “Coons” & “Self Hating Pieces Of Sh*T: ‘Ya’ll Legends Didn’t Deserve That Wretched Live’

It takes a lot to own to your mistakes.

R&B songstress Ari Lennox is still taking responsibility for one of her more viral mistakes, recently apologizing to Oprah Winfrey and Gayle King for previously lashing out on them on instagram live.

The 32-year-old wrote on Twitter:

“I sincerely apologize to Oprah and Gayle. Y’all legends didn’t deserve that wretched ignorant live.”

The apology came as part of a series of tweets by the Dreamville artist, admitting that she has some not so nice personality traits she’s been growing from. Elsewhere in her messages she wrote:

“I can be a b**ch sometimes. Just putting it out there. Not always proud of those moments but sometimes I am.”

Adding:

“I have been naive, a sheep, a people pleaser battling traumas and codependency. I was one mindlessly snd unintentionally spreading false information in order to impress people. My lives were a playground on top of a fiery hell. I was simply unaware of the damage I was causing.”

Back in 2020, Lennox went on a curse world filled rant against the pair of famous besties following Gayle King’s controversial interview with WNBA star Lisa Leslie. If you recall at the time, many were accusing the award winning journalist of having an agenda after King was seemingly pushing the basketball champion to speak negatively about the then recently deceased Kobe Bryant. King made it appoint to have Leslie address Bryant’s 2003 sexual assault charge during a special remembering his legacy.

Subsequently, many lashed out on King online, joining the narrative that labeled the media personality a sell-out. For Lennox’s part, the singer took to Instagram live and gave some choice words to both Oprah and Gayle, vehemently stating:

“F**k Gayle and f**k Oprah. Y’all are some self-hating pieces of s**t f**k asses…I have never seen a coon more f**king coonier than got d**n kale and okra. I’m over y’all. I don’t give a f**k how rich y’all are, how much you f**king accomplish. Y’all are tearing down the legacies of so many phenomenal beautiful Black men and I don’t f**king have time for it.”

It wasn’t long after she made the video that Lennox found herself in defense mode. In one follow up post, she reportedly wrote:

I swear to god i be meaning well. I’m not the most structured when i start talking and that has been a blessing and curse. I’ve grown too comfortable with viewing my supporters as my bestie that I can freely vent to with no repercussions.”

Following her recent apology tweet, the soul singer further elaborated on her post in the comments section of a media outlet covering the story. She added about her apology, which is insists has no agenda except self accountability, wrote:

“Y’all can take this however you want. But my passion is SINGING. I am not an actress first nor have I been auditioning for anything. I’m beyond content with what God has blessed me with. I apologized because I FEEL I was wrong and I feel like those women didn’t deserve that ignorant attack from me. This is not to impress the self righteous idiots, the true misogynist that love degrading black women for their imperfections or flaws. We all have a million reasons as to why we become who we become and I don’t see the point in being judgmental and evil towards people figuring it out. I’m here with no agenda or motive. I was wrong and I want to be very clear about it. I don’t mind being real about it. It is not my intent to impress or please any of you.”
