Tory Lanez Shares First Audio Message To His Fans From Prison + Rapper’s Team Says He Doesn’t Want To Be Held In A Protective Wing: ‘They Was Hate’n On A Young, Fly N*gg*’

Tory Lanez seems to be in good spirits amid his 10-year prison stay.

As previously reported, earlier this month Tory Lanez’s request to be released on bail as he appeals the verdict in his shooting case was denied. Last year the Canadian artist was found guilty of three felony charges for shooting fellow rapper Megan Thee Stallion in 2020. After his attempt for bond was rejected, Tory was transferred to a state prison in California, where he’s expected to remain for his decade-long sentence. Today (Sept. 25), Tory shared his first audio message to his supporters from his new home. In part, he said,

“I’m talking to you live from prison right now, man. I’m just happy to get out that b*llsh*t county jail. They was hate’n on a young, fly n*gg*, you heard? Had me on 24-hour lockdown. Half-size cell by myself. No windows, no mirrors. N*gg* ain’t even seen himself in a whole year.”

He continued,

“But with all them disadvantages against me, my head has always been held high, man. And I want ya’ll to know I’m in great spirits. My drive and my ambition is growing stronger and stronger every day.”

Despite going through a “scary time,” Tory let his fans know his current situation hasn’t sparked any fear “in [his] heart at all.” He added that he’s “more prepared than ever” and he’s gearing up to release the deluxe version of his “Alone at Prom” album.

Tory’s comments come after reports surfaced that claimed he’s “scared for his life and safety in prison.”

Ceasar McDowell — a member of Tory’s legal team — recently spoke with TMZ to shut down rumors that the “Say It” artist is afraid of the other inmates. In fact, McDowell shared with the publication that Tory actually wants to be housed with the general population instead of being placed in a protective wing.

Reportedly, due to his high-celebrity status, Tory is being kept away from the other inmates as a safety precaution. However, it’s reported that inmates placed in gen pop have access to more programs and resources, which are things Tory would allegedly like to take advantage of.
