Kandi Burruss Faces Backlash For Failing To Address Celebrity Favoritism & Long Wait Times In Her Response To TikTok Star Keith Lee’s Viral Review Of Her Old Lady Gang Restaurant: ‘You Avoided The Main Subject Of His Video’

Reality TV star Kandi Burruss is still getting heat after addressing the controversy surrounding her restaurant.

Despite attempting to explain some of the issues brought up by viral social media food critic Keith Lee about her Old Lady Gang eatery, the “RHOA” Atlanta star still faced backlash as fans called her out for not speaking on the extensive wait times and celebrity favoritism.

Kandi Burruss shared a video online yesterday (Monday, October 30th) and offered a further understanding of why Keith Lee wasn’t able to dine at her establishment. As previously covered, the food influencer has been on a food tour across the country and set Atlanta on fire with his reviews of the area. His videos even made it to rap star Cardi B, who affirmed problems surrounding the city’s food scene, such as the difficulty of placing to-go orders and finding restaurants that are opened during normal business hours.

In one of his videos critiquing Burruss‘ Old Lady Gang restaurant, Lee stated that he declined to eat there due to not being able to place a take-out order, and the eatery having a wait time of 1 -2 hours when his non-famous family members tried to make a reservation, but then switching the wait time to 5 minutes once they realized it was him. Burruss confirmed that restricting to-go orders on the weekend is in fact a policy at the restaurant and explained why in her response. In part, she stated:

“On the weekends we get a lot of community support, people in our city that show up for us, as well as a lot of people from out of town…We don’t want to overwhelm our kitchen by having to have such long times for the people that are actually at the restaurant plus having to do to-go orders…that would make the wait times even longer.”

The Grammy winner went on to thank Lee a second time for “trying to even show up,” and expressed her hope that should he return, things will go much smoother. Despite seeming to give a professional response to the situation, Burruss‘ post was widely criticized by social media users. While a few showed support for the entertainer, many seemed to feel as though she failed to promise change regarding the extensive wait times for regular diners and prioritizing celebrities over everyone else.

However, Lee spoke on the situation once more in a recap of his Atlanta food tour stop. After a few videos of him talking to staff went viral, he explained that there was no heated confrontation and that staff accommodated him and his family’s request to do takeout and even allowed someone who waited much longer than he did to place a to-go order as well. Additionally, Lee asked the manager to give the table they were preparing for him to another person who was waiting ahead of him, which he said the manager obliged.

All in all, the foodie urged people to try the restaurant out for themselves and not leave hate comments or reviews based on his experience alone. It does not seem Burruss has made any other remarks about the situation at this time.
