Update: (Nov. 1, 2023): Halle Bailey and DDG have seemingly responded to the mixed reactions they received surrounding their Halloween tribute to Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown.

As we recently covered, the love birds were hit with a little pushback after sharing images of themselves dressed up as the late Whitney Houston and her ex-husband Bobby Brown. Some internet users thought the pair did a good job channeling the music legends, however, others claimed they were glorifying a toxic relationship. As you may recall, Whitney and Bobby were said to have had a few rough patches during their time together.

Despite the split reactions, Halle and DDG seem to be unbothered by the opinions of others. Halle took to her X account and seemingly addressed the naysayers by writing,

“i hope everyone has a safe and lovely halloween!!! i had so much fun dressing up as legends this yearrr — get off twitter go dress up, touch grass and have fun outside !!!!”

Her boyfriend DDG quickly backed what she said and added in the replies,

“she ate yall up i fear — clocked them, purr”

Original Story: (Oct. 31, 2023): Love birds Halle Bailey and Boyfriend DDG definitely know how to get the people going!

The pair recently shared images from their couple’s Halloween photoshoot. In the first round of pictures, Halle Bailey, 23, and DDG, 26, stepped into the 90s’ to recreate looks from the 1993 film “Poetic Justice.” Halle Bailey dressed up as Janet Jackson’s character Justice and DDG channeled Tupac Shakur’s character Lawrence (aka Lucky) for his look.

For their next set of costumes, Halle and DDG, born Darryl Dwayne Granberry Jr., appeared as controversial lovers Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown. As you may already know, Whitney and Bobby reportedly met at the 1989 Soul Train Music Awards and married in 1992. A year later, they welcomed their daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown into the world.

Before officially divorcing in 2007, Whitney and Bobby reportedly had a few infamous disputes, including a 2003 altercation that resulted in Bobby being charged with battery for allegedly assaulting the “Run To You” singer.

To honor the late Whitney Houston and Bobby Brown, 54, Halle and DDG shared a few looks dedicated to the musical pair. One of the moments the young couple recreated was their all-red look for the 1993 Billboard Music Awards.

Despite Halle and DDG’s Halloween fits seemingly being harmless, the public has had a lot to say about their Whitney and Bobby pictures. One X user wrote,

“well, we know how that ended…”

Someone else added,

“Hey, Halle, while you nailed the look as Whitney and, for sure, you are stunning just the way she used to be. As her fan, it’s unbelievable that you brought your guy along to play the part of Bobby Brown, the man who was responsible for so much of her pain. He played a big role in Whitney’s ups and downs throughout their rocky relationship. Glamorizing or romanticizing that aspect of her life feels tone-deaf. Bad call. Shame on you.”
