New Edition Announces Las Vegas Residency For 2024: ‘We’re Looking To Touch That Stage & Continue On w/ The Legacy’

New Edition fans are in for a treat as the group prepares to perform in Las Vegas next year!

On Monday (Nov. 6) the Grammy-nominated R&B group announced six residency shows set to take place at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. “New Edition: Las Vegas” will kick off at the beginning of the year on February 28 and run until March 9. A post from New Edition’s official Instagram account read,

ITS OFFICIAL! We’re launching our Las Vegas residency at the intimate Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas on February 28! Tickets go on sale Friday, November 10 at 10am PT. See you in Vegas!”

The upcoming 2024 residency will reportedly consist of all six of the band’s members, Ronnie DeVoe, Bobby Brown, Ricky Bell, Michael Bivins, Ralph Tresvant, and Johnny Gill. The announcement comes after many fans on social media requested to see the R&B stars take the stage in Vegas.

One of the founding members of the legendary group, Ronnie DeVoe, said,

“We’re looking to touch that stage and continue on with the legacy.”

After concluding their 2023 “Legacy” tour, New Edition’s Vegas residency will be more of an intimate setting for their fans with the venue reportedly holding 1,480 seats. Bobby Brown, who was replaced by Johnny Gill to pursue his solo career in late 1985, said,

“This is going to more theatrical than our Legacy and Culture tours. This will be a lot more intimate. We wanted it to be up, close and personal for our fans.”

New Edition was founded in 1978 and reached mainstream success in the 1980s. Inspired by The Jackson Five, the group released their debut album in 1983, which featured hits such as “Candy Girl,” “Cool It Now,” and “Mr. Telephone Man.” Over the years, the sextet has done solo projects, formed smaller subgroups, reunited, and toured together.

New Edition said in a statement,

“Fulfilling a career-long dream to solidify ourselves with a residency performance in the Entertainment Capital of the world, we are beyond excited to embark on this fantastical journey at the Encore Theater at Wynn Las Vegas. On behalf of all of us, including Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike, Ralph and Johnny, it is our extreme purpose to give our fans a show that they cannot witness anywhere else in the world.”

In addition, Ronnie DeVoe hinted at the group releasing new music in the wake of their forthcoming residency. New Edition hasn’t dropped an album since 2004. He said,

“It makes sense. I think it’ll be a great time to get in the studio and put our vocals on something new and fresh, so we can deliver that to our fans in anticipation of their residency.”

New Edition aren’t the only ones making headlines for their Vegas residency.

In case you didn’t know, last year, singer/songwriter Adele kicked off her “Weekends With Adele Vegas” residency at the Caesars Palace. After rescheduling the initial start date, the singer finally took the stage for her first show on November 18, 2022. The residency is scheduled to end next year on 15 June.

R&B artist Usher is another celebrity who has experience with a residency in Vegas. As you may recall, he caused a stir on social media earlier this year after serenading fellow entertainer Keke Palmer during one of his concerts. Her partner, Darius Jackson, seemingly wasn’t fond of the intimate moment in addition to the actress wearing a sheer outfit.
