Rapper M.I.A. Details Custody Battle Over Son, Accuses Jay-Z Of Stopping Contact With Her After She Was Served, Says Joe ‘Biden Won’t Let Me See My Child’

The custody battle over rapper-singer M.I.A.‘s son, whom she welcomed in 2009, is getting ugly as she slams public figures like Jay-Z and Joe Biden for allegedly interfering.

The Paper Airplanes musician shares son Ikhyd with her ex Benjamin Bronfman, whose father, billionaire Edgar Bronfman, is the former CEO of Warner Music Group.

In a series of messages on X (formerly Twitter), M.I.A., who lives in London, shared screenshots of her struggle to get a visa so she can travel to the US to see her son. In a screenshot of a legal notice she received, M.I.A. was told she is “ineligible for a US visa due to her past behaviour,” although she’s had visas in the past. A waiver will take up to nine months.

M.I.A., born Mathangi “Maya” Arulpragasam wrote on the social platform,

“BIDEN WON’T LET ME SEE MY CHILD. THE LONGEST PROCESSING IS MENT TO BE 2 MONTHS AND IT’S ALREADY BEEN THAT. They basically saying I have to wait for a Republican to come to office because 9 months from now is the election.”

She seemingly referenced the “past behavior” that blocked her visa approval and said it was because she stole food when she was 18.

She noted that her custody battle began in 2013, when she was being managed by Jay-Z, who she alleged was “paid by the Bronfmans.”

M.I.A. also wrote,

“BE VERY CLEAR WHY MY MATHANGI RECORD WAS BURIED IN 2013. I SACRIFICED MY CAREER FOR MY CHILD. THEY RIPPED ME OFF AND COPIED MY STYLE AND GAVE IT TO THEIR PUPPETS AND SHADOW BANNED ME ON EVERY PLATFORM . BUT IT WAS WORTH IT TO SAVE HIM FROM THE MADNESS OF WHAT YOU KNOW NOW.”

She went on to allege that Roc Nation and Jay-Z ghosted her after she was officially served in the custody battle, adding,

“ALL MY EMAILS TO JAYZ ASKING FOR HELP WAS WIPED FROM MY INBOX. MY WAS BROKEN INTO AND EVERY LAP WAS TAKEN. I WAS TRAPPED IN BROOKLYN ON ORDER SERVED THAT RESCRICTED ME LEAVING BKLYN FOR 15 YEARS.”

The Borders singer continued with a photo of Aurora James, alleging that the Canadian fashion designer and activist, 

“vaccinated my child without my permission. They manipulated my child by lieing [sic] to a 12 year old , pretending to be his mum,of cause if its not your own child you don’t care how you can phycologically damage a child with mental games. She Beyonce and solonges friend.”

She concluded by posting court documents that ordered her and Benjamin Bronfman to “work together” to co-parent their child.
