Update: Usher’s Super Bowl Performance Brings In Over 30 Million Households, Surpassing Rihanna And Dr. Dre

Update (Feb. 12): Usher’s halftime performance drew in fans by the masses.

The 8-time Grammy winner’s big moment pulled in 30.1 million households, according to new reports on Monday (Feb. 12).

This is a five percent bump compared to Rihanna’s top-tier performance last year, where she performed solo and announced her second pregnancy. In comparison, Usher brought out fellow heavy hitters like Alicia Keys, who performed their hit ‘My Boo’ and Lil Jon and Ludacris, as the trio gave a nostalgic performance of their single ‘Yeah!’

Considering there were multiple people in each household, with many hosting Super Bowl parties, it’s suspected that 100 million people total tuned in to see Usher perform.

As for 2022, viewers might remember that Dr. Dre served as the halftime performer, bringing out guests like Snoop Dogg, Eminem, Mary J. Blige, and 50 Cent. Twenty-nine million households reportedly watched that performance.

Internet users flocked to social media platforms to watch the show together and shared their thoughts on whether or not the act lived up to the hype.

As we’ve been covering since it was announced that Usher Raymond, 45, would be this year’s halftime headliner, many speculations about the setlist and special guests were floating around the internet. The artist himself has opened up about how he’s been preparing for the big performance and shared a little about the songs he’s chosen during a recent interview.

Ahead of the big show, rumors began circulating that songstress Alicia Keys was spotted at rehearsals. Many were hopeful to get a rendition of the musician’s iconic collab “My Boo” which was released in 2004 and were not disappointed when Keys took the stage.

It was also speculated that Lil Jon and Ludacris just might appear as special guests. If you recall, Usher also released his chart-topping hit “Yeah!” back in 2004, which the two rappers are featured on. While it was unconfirmed whether or not either would take the stage with Usher, Ludacris did appear in a commercial for the performance. Fans were super excited when the song began and reunited the trio once again.

Overall, it seems many felt the show lived up to expectations. Social media users took to the comment section to share their positive reviews to the performance, which appeared to be a general consensus across the net.
