Ariana Grande’s New Album To Feature Song Called ‘The Boy Is Mine’, Social Media Users Convinced It’s A Remake Of Brandy & Monica’s 1998 Hit: ‘I Would Lose My Mind’

Pop sensation Ariana Grande threw social media into a frenzy with the release of her new album’s tracklist.

After revealing that one of her sons is titled ‘The Boy Is Mine’, fans have been reacting nonstop, wondering if it’s a sample of Brandy and Monica’s hit of the same name.

Back in 1998, R&B singers Brandy and Monica released their duet ‘The Boy Is Mine’, which became the first #1 pop record for both of them. The song sold 2.6 million copies and spent 13 weeks at the top of Billboard’s Hot 100 chart. It also landed both Monica and Brandy their first Grammy Award, winning Best R&B Performance by a Duo or Group with Vocals. To date, it continues to be a classic and has been sampled by several artists, including R&B singer Tink who covered the song on her 2022 record “Mine” featuring Muni Long.

Now, it seems Ariana Grande may be the next artist to show the record love. Though unconfirmed, fans have been speculating the ‘No Tears Left To Cry’ artist may be doing a version of the single after noticing the 8th track on her upcoming album Eternal Sunshine shares the same name.

It seems the majority of commenters would be overjoyed if the speculation ends up being true. Many reacted to the set list release, expressing their hopes and excitement should Grande actually sample the song.

As some users pointed out, the song title is especially a spicy choice seeing as Grande has been shrouded in relationship drama over the past year. In case you’re unfamiliar, the 30-year-old faced widespread backlash last June after suddenly ending her marriage to then-husband Dalton Gomez and moving on with her married (but allegedly separated) “Wicked” co-star Ethan Slater.

The entertainers reportedly fell in love while filming for the movie, which resulted in Slater’s marriage of five years coming to an end. His ex-wife Lily Jay subsequently spoke out about Grande and Slater’s relationship, stating:

“[Ariana’s] the story really. Not a girl’s girl. My family is just collateral damage.”

While Grande has still not yet spoken publicly about the situation, it seems fans may get a glimpse of what’s been happening in her love life on the new album. It does not appear that Brandy nor Monica have reacted to speculations that their song is being sampled at this time.
