Rajon Rondo wants to steer clear of any more legal trouble.

According to court documents obtained by TMZ, basketball veteran Rajon Rondo’s attorney has filed a motion for his latest gun charge to be dismissed.

Rajon Rondo was arrested in Indiana last month after being pulled over for a traffic violation. While one report stated that he was flagged for driving with no license plate, another one claimed that authorities received a call about a 2022 Tesla “traveling recklessly” on I-65 South between Indianapolis and Louisville (KY), which was later said to have been Rondo.

Upon arrival, officials allegedly smelled an illegal substance, prompting a vehicle search. Ultimately, police reportedly found drug paraphernalia, marijuana, and a firearm on the 38-year-old and took him into custody.

The Jackson County Jail booked Rondo on three misdemeanors: possession of paraphernalia, possession of marijuana, and unlawful possession of a firearm. He was released on a $705 bond.

On Tuesday (Feb. 27), Rondo’s representative argued that the ordeal is unconstitutional and a violation of his Second Amendment rights.

In court documents regarding the case, Rondo’s team wrote,

“The statute under which Rondo is charged fails to be consistent with the Nation’s historical tradition of firearm regulation.”

The Second Amendment states:

“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”

However, due to Rondo’s previous debacle with his children’s mother, Ashley Bachelor, he had already been prohibited from carrying a firearm.

Bachelor was granted an emergency protection order against Rondo after he allegedly threatened to kill her amid a heated altercation in 2022.

In the filing, she said,

“I am extremely fearful for my safety and for the safety of my children. Rajon has a history of volatile, erratic, explosive behavior. He is verbally, emotionally, and financially abusive. He physically hits our son and calls him names like ‘p*ssy’ and accuses him of ‘acting like a b*tch.'”

As for his current run-in, no ruling has been made just yet, but there’s a hearing set for March.
