‘Euphoria’ Star Nika King Says She’s Unable To Pay Rent Due To The Show’s Extended Break
It looks like “Euphoria” fans aren’t the only ones waiting for the hit HBO series to make its return.
During a recent standup performance, “Euphoria” star Nika King — who plays Leslie Bennett, the mother of the show’s main protagonist, Rue, played by Zendaya — opened up about her financial struggles amid the show’s extended break.

In her set, the actress and comedian expressed her frustrations regarding the drama series’ delay following the season 2 finale, which aired on HBO Max over two years ago. She also addressed fans inquiring about its unknown return for season 3. As you may already know, the last season of “Euphoria” aired in February 2022.

In addition to Nika King and Zendaya, the Emmy-winning series stars Hunter Schafer, Sydney Sweeney, Storm Reid, Jacob Elordi, Maude Apatow, Alexa Demie, and Dominic Fike as they navigate high school in a world of drugs, love, and crime. It’s reported that season 2 of “Euphoria” became HBO’s second-most-watched show of all time in early 2022.

As previously reported, in November, HBO boss Casey Bloys broke the news of the show’s return during a press event and slated the date for sometime in 2025.

In a clip shared to Nika King’s official TikTok account, the stand-up comedian got candid during her set at LA’s Improv Lab. She spoke about the show’s expected return to screens and said,
“Season 3 is coming out…I don’t f*cking know. Don’t ask me. I don’t know.”
Nika King continued,
“People are like, ‘We need season 3!’ and I’m like, ‘B*tch, I need season 3!’”
King then explained the financial hardships she’s faced amid the show’s hiatus.
“I haven’t paid my rent in six months, and Zendaya’s over in Paris at Fashion Week, and I’m like, ‘B*tch, come home! I need you! Mama need you!’”

King added,
“I haven’t booked nothing since Euphoria. This is some bullsh*t. I thought my career was on the rise after Euphoria, I thought I was good. It don’t work that way. I called Taraji [P. Henson] and she was like, ‘B*tch, get used to it.’”

While it appears King has yet to “break out” since the premiere of “Euphoria,” the careers of her co-stars seem to have been taken to new heights. Lead stars such as Zendaya, Sydney Sweeney, and Jacob Elordi have been booked and busy in Hollywood with their respective appearances and projects amid the break.

Although the gap between seasons 2 and 3 has many losing patience with the show, it’s important to note that there was also a three-year gap — from 2019 to 2022 — between the first and second seasons of “Euphoria.”
