Soulja Boy Reportedly Ordered To Pay $10 Million In Damages For Allegedly Beating Ex-Girlfriend Over Several Years & Causing Her To Suffer A Miscarriage
Rap star Soulja Boy will reportedly have to hand over quite the settlement check soon.
According to reports, the “Crank That” rapper was recently ordered to pay $10 million in damages to one of his former partners who sued him over years of alleged physical and sexual abuse.
Reportedly, the suit was filed in 2021 by a woman who opted to keep her identity anonymous. The plaintiff, Jane Doe, claims in the complaint that she first became romantically involved with Soulja Boy, real name DeAndre Cortez Way, 33, in 2007 and was with him until 2019 when she could no longer stand the alleged abuse. Her lawsuit says that she was living with the musician by 2015 and was pregnant with his child. In a fit of rage around the time, however, Soulja allegedly attacked her so badly that she lost the baby. Detailing the incident in the suit, Jane Doe’s lawyer writes:
“During their conversation, (Way) began to punch (Doe) in the face and chest, until she could no longer stand on her feet…(Doe) fell down and covered her body to protect her stomach. (Way) continued to kick her, including in her stomach area.”
Adding:
“Soon thereafter, (Doe) suffered a miscarriage and was unable to carry her pregnancy into full term,”
The suit additionally includes another severe incident where Soulja’s security allegedly had to intervene. Jane Doe claims that two years after the miscarriage, she told the rapper she wanted to spend some time with her grandmother which was met with a furious attack so bad, that Soulja’s hired help had to forcibly remove him from her.
Jane Doe’s suit accuses Soulja of ongoing domestic violence, gender violence, negligence, assault, sexual battery, and intentional and negligent infliction of emotional distress. Reports state the plaintiff was awarded $5 million in pain, suffering, and inconvenience, and another $5 million in emotional distress as a result of the suit. Additionally, reports note that Jane Doe’s lawyer, attorney Neama Rahmani, also represented Soulja’s former assistant who sued him for sexual assault that same year.
Soulja’s latest settlement debt comes nearly a year after he was ordered to pay another of his exes over allegations of abuse. If you recall, the rapper’s former partner Kayla Meyers successfully sued him for pistol whipping her and holding her hostage in 2019 and was awarded over $235,000 in damages.
It does not appear that Soulja has spoken about the recent ruling publicly at this time.
