Eva Marcille Reveals She Lost Weight Amid Divorce: ‘I Found Myself Depressed’ + Opens Up About Disabling Comments On Instagram

Eva Marcille is blocking out the negativity.

The model and media personality appeared on The Tamron Hall Show on Tuesday (April 9) and opened up about criticism she received over her body. Fans began commenting about her health after she showed her slimmed-down figure on social media over the summer.

Eva Marcille ultimately disabled the comments for the post, telling Tamron Hall that she “absolutely” saw the negative remarks.

As for whether she thought she looked “slimmer”, Eva Marcille confessed with a laugh,

“I thought I looked cute.”

She shared that she had lost the weight after going through a divorce. Eva and attorney Michael Sterling’s divorce was finalized in April 2023. They wed in October 2018.

“I went through a divorce last year. Anyone that’s ever been through a divorce knows that divorce is hard. It’s like the stomach flu, you will be skinny afterward. A 200 pound person, you’re gonna drop at least 30 pounds. So for me, I lost weight just naturally going through life and I found myself depressed.”

The former Real Housewives of Atlanta star added that she had suffered through depression before, during, and after her split from Michael Sterling. Now she is trying to rediscover herself.

“I’m not the wife anymore, I’m not someone’s someone, I’m someone’s mom, but if I took the mom away, if I took [her ‘All the Queen’s Men’ character] Madam away, if I took ‘[America’s Next] Top Model’ away, who is Eva? Who am I? And making sure I prioritized knowing that character, and building that character.”

Eva added that the remarks people left were “so mean” as Tamron Hall reminded viewers, “You never know what someone’s going through” when commenting on their appearance.

She shared that she thought her marriage to Michael Sterling would last “forever.”

“My parents have been married 42 years. My grandparents died two months apart, like, marriage forever, all my aunts and uncles, all my brothers are married. I’m like the black sheep. It was different.”
