Diddy Wants Trafficking & Revenge Porn Allegations Removed From Lawsuit, Says Laws Against Those Issues Didn’t Exist When The Alleged Attack Happened

Diddy is attempting to get some claims against him thrown out as he faces multiple lawsuits.

According to reports, the billionaire argued in a recent motion that some of the suit’s claims are invalid because his companies nor laws against some of the alleged crimes existed at the time of the alleged attack.

The report notes that Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs‘ lawyers filed the legal documents in New York this past Friday (April 26th), regarding the case brought by plaintiff Joi Dickerson -Neal. If you recall, the woman sued the musician last year alleging he drugged and raped her during a date back in 1991. In the recent motion, Diddy’s team asked the court judge to remove his companies Bad Boys Records and Combs Entertainment from the suit, arguing that the businesses did not exist at the time of the alleged incident.

The record label reportedly didn’t become a legal entity until 1993. Likewise, Combs Entertainment (Global) wasn’t founded until 2013, according to its LinkedIn profile. Diddy’s attorneys thus claim that there is no legal ground for them being added to Joi Dickerson-Neal’s lawsuit as defendants, writing in the court motion:

“As a statute cannot apply to conduct occurring before it existed, a plaintiff cannot sue an entity for conduct that allegedly took place before it existed.”

Additionally, they also argue that several of the crimes in the plaintiff’s suit didn’t have laws against them before the alleged assault, specifically the allegations of revenge porn and human trafficking. They wrote that the New York Services for Victims of Human Trafficking Law cited in the suit, didn’t take effect until 2007. Similarly, they wrote that New York didn’t have laws against revenge porn until 2017.

With this being the case, Diddy’s attorneys are seeking that both portions of the suit be tossed out.

As we’ve previously covered, Joi Dickerson-Neal’s is one of many sexual abuse lawsuits Diddy is currently facing. She accused the celeb of taking her on a date when she was a college student where he allegedly drugged and sexually assaulted her. She also claimed that he recorded the incident and spread the footage around the industry.

It has not been reported that a judge has ruled on Diddy’s recent filing.
