LeBron James Shares Message After Being Questioned About His Future w/ The LA Lakers: ‘I Do Not Know Yet, I’m Only Thinking About Spending Time w/ My Family & Friends!’

Update (May 1, 2024): LeBron James is still unsure about his next step with the Los Angeles Lakers.

A day after the team’s season ended, he took to X (formerly Twitter) to reiterate that he’s simply not sure if he’ll return.

He wrote,

“I’ve seen, heard a lot of reports about my future. I said it last night and I’ll say it again. I do not know yet as I’m only thinking about spending time with my family & friends! When I know after speaking with the fam, my counsel aswell as my representation about it then you guys will know. Until then ?. Love ?”

Original Story (April 30, 2024): LeBron James is keeping his future with the Los Angeles Lakers close to the vest.

The NBA all-star, 39, walked out of a press conference following a Lakers game on Monday night (April 29) after being asked if the match marked his last time suiting up for the team. The Lakers lost to the Denver Nuggets 108-106, helping Denver secure a 4-1 victory in the playoffs and boot the Lakers from their attempt at a championship ring, which would’ve marked LeBron James’ fifth.

During a post-game conference, LeBron James was asked if he had considered that Monday could be his final game with the Lakers, which he joined under a 4-year $153.3 million deal in 2018. He answered,

“Um, I’m not gonna answer that. Appreciate it.”

James then stood up and left.

Meanwhile, his son Bronny James hopes to enter the NBA sooner rather than later. Earlier this month, he announced he was entering the league’s draft and the NCAA transfer portal.  Bronny James, who’s wrapping up his freshman year at the University of Southern California (USC), wrote,

“I’ve had a year with some ups and downs but all added to growth for me as a man, student and athlete. I’ve made the decision to enter the NBA Draft while maintaining my college eligibility, and will also be entering the NCAA transfer portal.”

He continued,

“Thank you to USC for an amazing Freshman year, and as always thankful for my family, friends, doctors, athletic trainers and fans for their support.”
