Plies Gushes Over Dawn Staley After South Carolina Women’s Basketball Coach Joined Him On-Stage: ‘Best Moment Of My Career’
Rap star Plies isn’t shy about expressing his admiration for WNBA championship coach Dawn Staley.
The musician recently shared footage from his performance in South Carolina this past Friday (May 10th), where he was joined on-stage by the sports professional and let everyone know it was one of the highlights of his career.
Plies, real name Algernod Lanier Washington, uploaded several videos of the concert to his X account (formerly Twitter). Sharing a clip of 3x NCAA division 1 championship coach Dawn Staley coming out dancing to his classic song “Bust It Baby”, Plies wrote:
“The Best Moment Of My Career Happened Last Night!! @dawnstaley Came To The Show Last Night W/ Me In Columbia SC! Her Coming Out To “Bust It Baby” Was LEGENDARY! Watch How She Break That Thang Down! \\ The Best Person/Coach In The World! 38-0 I This Woman!!”

The recent interaction between Plies and Dawn Staley certainly seems to have been a long time coming. In a few other X posts, the rapper shared flashback videos of the many times he showed up court-side to support the basketball hall of famer during her college season. Just a few hours ago, Plies posted an image from one of the games that depicted him embracing Staley, writing the caption:
“This One Going On My Wall!!!”
Plies is far from the only celeb to celebrate Staley’s achievements as a dominant collegiate head coach. If you recall, after South Carolina won the NCAA title over Caitlin Clark and Iowa earlier this year, Staley proudly shared that she received a beautiful bouquet of flowers and letter from pop super star Beyoncé, who wrote that she and her daughters Blue Ivy and Rumi love to watch the South Carolina Gamecocks play.
Beyoncé sent coach Dawn Staley flowers after South Carolina's national championship.
