Singer and actress Jennifer Lopez is seemingly responding to months of social media chatter and rumors of a looming divorce from husband, Ben Affleck.

The 54-year-old superstar took to Instagram on Wednesday (May 15)t to share an older documentary clip featuring Elaine Stritch, who starred alongside Jennifer Lopez in Monster-In-Law, where she could be heard saying:

They got to get something on you. If you’re that pretty, you’re that cute, you’re that talented, you’ve got everything going for you… there’s got to be something wrong. So, ‘you’re a bitch!'”

The post comes after months of harsh social media commentary and press coverage, amid several rumors and stories regarding Lopez’s behind-the-scenes persona, less-than-stellar album sales, embarrassing social media moments, and an alleged impending divorce.

More recently, media outlets reported the possibility of a divorce between Jennifer Lopez and actor husband Ben Affleck, with many attributing the split to Lopez. According to a source from In Touch Weekly:

“The writing is on the wall – it’s over, they’re headed for a divorce – and for once, [Ben’s] not to blame!”

The source continued,

“He’s focusing on his work and his kids now … Ben already moved out and they’ll likely have to sell the dream house they spent two years searching for. They’ll never stop loving each other, but she can’t control him, and he can’t change her. There’s no way it could have lasted.”

J. Lo and Ben Affleck infamously dated and were engaged in the early 2000s, calling off their wedding just days before they were slated to say “I do.” They rekindled their romance nearly two decades later, and married in Las Vegas in July 2022.

In addition to the divorce rumors, Lopez’s latest album This Is Me… Now, has been widely criticized after selling only 14,000 copies (pure sales) in the first week and debuting at No. 38 on the Billboard 200 chart. Accompanying the album was a tour, This Is Me… Live, which garnered attention when Lopez canceled several dates, reportedly due to low ticket sales.

Adding to the negative headlines, a clip showing Jennifer in the gym with disheveled hair from her documentary The Greatest Love Story Never Told went viral and sparked conversations questioning the authenticity of her ties to the Bronx.

Another quirky moment that led fans to poke fun at the pop star was when Lopez mentioned her go-to bodega order in a Vogue interview clip from 2022, prompting  social media users to continue their questions.

Additionally, a snippet of Lopez from this year’s Met Gala went viral when a red-carpet reporter asked her what she was wearing. Jennifer responded with a very short answer in a rather disinterested tone, which social media seized upon, amplifying rumors about Jennifer not being the warmest behind closed doors.
