Jennifer Lopez Speaks On ‘Really Scary’ Side Of AI: Ads Are ‘Selling Skincare I Know Nothing About’
How would you feel if you learned a computer-generated image of your likeness was being used to sell a product?
Jennifer Lopez’s latest Netflix film Atlas was released on May 24. The movie centers around Atlas Shepherd’s (portrayed by Jennifer Lopez) struggle to trust an AI mech (a giant robot machine) to help her stop a fugitive AI terrorist from destroying Earth.
During a recent interview, Jennifer Lopez addressed the ugly side of artificial intelligence (AI) and shared how it can be scary. She said,
“I think this movie does a good job of showing how AI could go incredibly wrong, and this is how it could go really right.”
She continued, mentioning how some companies have taken to AI to feature her in ads “selling skincare that I know nothing about” and will use manipulated photos of her face covered in “wrinkles.”
She added,
“Right away we had them stealing our faces. So, yes, [AI] is really scary.”
And also expressed,
“I think you should be respectful of AI…We have to be open to all possibilities. These movies that are talking about AI — especially this one — do a really good job of showing both sides.”

Jennifer Lopez isn’t the first celeb to call out these questionable ads. As previously reported, In November 2023, rapper Cardi B threatened to sue over an AI ad using a voice that claimed to be her. She wrote on X,
“AI is crazy smh….another lawsuit that fell right on my lap…I love easy money”
