Trina Gives Update On Current Relationship w/ Nicki Minaj + Shares She Wasn’t Being Shady When She Named Beyoncé The Queen Of Rap
Trina is setting the record straight!
During a newly aired interview with host/TV producer Carlos King, Trina took a moment to speak on the rumored drama between herself and fellow rapper Nicki Minaj. In 2019, following the release of their collab BAPS, Reginald Saunders — head of A&R at Trina’s record label Rockstarr Music Group — slammed Nicki Minaj for allegedly being uncooperative and a “deceiver and manipulator.” Despite Trina taking to Instagram live to defend the “Super Base” artist, speculation still surfaced that the women were at odds.
Addressing what occurred during her latest interview, Trina said,
“Somebody that was working with me on my team had…[said something about Nicki] and I was like, ‘What the hell are you doing?’ And his response was like, ‘I’m just feeling mad because we did all this work and we got this song and she’s not helping out.'”
Trina continued, sharing that she told Saunders he was “wrong” and he “acted out of emotions.” She added that the entire situation happened around the time she lost her mom. Thanking Nicki Minaj for support during that difficult time, she said,
“Everything I needed done from the song as far as radio to move forward came directly from Nicki, they don’t know that.”

Trina also touched on people who thought she was shading Nicki when she named Beyoncé the queen of rap last year. At the time, she said,
“‘Cause she’s like the number one female rapper when she does rap. When you hear her do a song and it’s rapping involved, it’s just like, ‘Oh my god.’ It’s more inspiration.”
Clarifying her remarks with Carlos King, she expressed,
“First off, I’m fresh off the Renaissance Tour, let’s be very clear. I’m stan’d out. You can’t deny or take credit away from nothing that Beyoncé do. I just love Beyoncé, it was in the hype of the moment. …I’m in the moment. It don’t take no credit from nobody. … I love all these girls.”
During their chat, Trina also gave an update on where she currently stands with Nicki and said they haven’t spoken in “maybe like a year or two.”
