Georgia State Rep. Angela Moore Maintains Innocence Regarding Delta Sigma Theta Membership, Blames Discrepancy On Name Change

Looks like we’re finally getting answers regarding Angela Moore’s greek life affiliation

Georgia State Representative Angela Moore, representing District 91 in DeKalb and Rockdale counties, provided an exclusive interview to WSBTV’s Audrey Washington, addressing allegations regarding her membership in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated.

Rep. Angela Moore initially expressed regret, stating:

“I’m so sorry that we had to take you through this. This is not something that I wanted to go on.”

Angela Moore then attributed the discrepancy to her name change following her divorce, refusing to disclose her former married name.

Moore stated,

“I refuse to tell what my former married name was.”

The sorority membership of the recently re-elected representative came under scrutiny after her opponent, Dee Haigler, accused Moore of misrepresenting her connection to the Delta Sigma Theta sorority, citing several social media posts claiming membership.

Subsequently, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. issued a statement contradicting Moore’s membership assertions.

Dorcas Washington, the Executive Director of the sorority, stated,

“We conducted an extensive review of our membership records and conferred with the alleged initiation chapter. We can confirm that Ms. Angela Moore is not, and has not ever been, a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.”

During the WSBTV interview, Moore also addressed additional allegations, including claims of misrepresentation regarding her status as a veteran and her professional background as an OBGYN.

Moore clarified that while she is not a veteran, she comes from a family with a strong military background, with all male members being veterans. Additionally, she affirmed her experience working in the field of OBGYN medicine, stating that she is not an OBGYN herself.
