‘Bling Bishop’ Lamor Whitehead Sentenced To Nine Years In Prison For Fraud, Extortion & False Statements

Bishop Lamor Whitehead is jailed in New York after being sentenced for multiple charges.

According to reports, the controversial Brooklyn church leader, known as ‘Bling Bishop,’ was sentenced to nine years in prison today (June 17) for wire fraud, attempted wire fraud, attempted extortion, and making false statements to federal authorities.

The nearly decade-long sentence was handed to Bishop Lamor Whitehead after Manhattan federal court Judge Lorna Schofield heard from the financially impacted victims in attendance. While purportedly describing the evidence in the case as “frankly overwhelming,” Judge Lorna Schofield said,

“I don’t see any remorse for your conduct.”

In case you didn’t already know, in March Bishop Lamor Whitehead was found guilty of the charges for swindling multiple victims out of thousands of dollars. As previously reported, one victim named Pauline Anderson, an older church member, was reportedly scammed out of her $90,000 retirement savings by the 46-year-old after he told her he would help her buy a home. Instead, it’s said that Whitehead used the funds for car payments and shopping.

In another instance, Whitehead used his close relationship with New York City Mayor Eric Adams for financial gain by reportedly asking a man he extorted named Brandon Belmonte for $500,000 in exchange for favors from the Mayor. The convicted pastor also lied to the FBI about the number of phones he had when agents were granted a search warrant.

Manhattan Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement,

“Lamor Whitehead is a con man who stole millions of dollars in a string of financial frauds and even stole from one of his own parishioners. He lied to federal agents, and again to the Court at his trial. Today’s sentence puts an end to Whitehead’s various schemes and reflects this Office’s commitment to bring accountability to those who abuse their positions of trust.”

In addition to Whitehead’s prison sentence, it’s reported that he’s ordered to pay $85,000 in restitution and forfeit $95,000. He will also have three years of supervised release.
