Actor Daniel Ezra Is Leaving Series Regular Role On ‘All American’ Ahead Of Season 7, Will Have Recurring Guest Spot
Daniel Ezra, who stars as Spencer James in the CW drama All American, will transition from a series regular to a recurring guest role starting in Season 7, according to recent announcements.
In a statement regarding his departure from the series regular role, Daniel Ezra expressed,
“After making the difficult decision to leave ‘All American,’ my sole focus became completing the journey of the most life-affirming character I’ve ever played in the manner he deserves. Thanks to Nkechi and the writers, I got my wish. Season 6 is ‘Spencer’s goodbye.’ I’ll miss him. I’ll miss our cast and crew. I hope it’s been as fun to watch him as it has been to play him.”
Daniel Ezra, 32, has been a pivotal part of All American since its inception, starring as Spencer James, a character whose journey from high school football star to NFL player has captivated audiences.
Ezra’s involvement extended beyond acting; he also directed multiple episodes, including the milestone 100th episode titled “100%”
All American, produced by Berlanti Productions in association with Warner Bros. Television and CBS Studios, stands as a flagship series for the CW, consistently captivating audiences, earning critical acclaim, and fostering a dedicated fan base.
The news of Ezra’s transition also follows another bombshell announcement—the cancellation of the spin-off All American: Homecoming, which will begin airing its third (and now final) season on July 8.
Fans of All American can still look forward to seeing Ezra make occasional appearances in season 7, but for now, they can catch him regularly on the series airing Mondays at 8 p.m. ET on The CW.
